Carter Junction is the husband and wife due of Clinton and Sarah Carter. The acoustic duo performs original and traditional songs in the Cowboy, Folk, and Celtic genres with Clinton Carter on vocals and guitar and Sarah on vocals, Celtic Harp, and Irish drum. Both are gifted vocalists, individually and in harmony, with Clinton singing bass and Sarah soprano.
Clinton Carter is the duo’s songwriter and frontman. Raised in Minnesota and Eastern Washington state, Clinton has traveled broadly throughout the US. As a young musician, he was influenced by the writing and singing styles of Gordon Lightfoot and John Denver. Three years in Nashville gave him inspiration and experience in crafting his own songs. A love of the American West and its wide-open spaces led him to attend a guide school in Wyoming, and later he led horseback trail rides at guest ranches in New Mexico and Wyoming. Playing guitar and singing for guests around campfires honed his stage presence and performance skills.
Sarah is a classically trained musician, who credits Celtic Woman and Allison Krauss as early influences. Born in the south-central sagebrush hills of Washington state, she traveled through Europe and Latin America as a college student and aid worker. Her stunning vocals led her to perform in five musicals with the Spokane Civic Theater, and do gigs with the Crooked Kilt Celtic band. She is an accomplished instrumentalist on harp, bodhran, and guitar. Sarah met Clinton through music. They married in 2015, and make their home near Spokane, WA.
Carter Junction is rapidly earning a name for themselves at venues throughout the West. They have performed at many locations including: the Tumbleweed Music Festival in Richland, WA, the National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center in Baker City, OR, the Cache Valley Cowboy Rendezvous, in Hyrum, UT, the 49ers’ Day Rendezvous in Winthrop, WA, the Fort Laramie National Historic Site in Laramie, WY, the Spirit of the West Cowboy Gathering in Ellensburg, WA, and the Sharlot Hall Folk Festival in Prescott, AZ among many others. They have also been featured on an hour long PBS TV show called “Jam with Dan”. Carter Junction released their debut album, “Simpler Time”, in July 2017. They are currently working on their next album, which is to be released in the summer of 2019.
